Latin Music USA: Episode 1, narrated by Jimmy Smits, presents the story of Afro Cuban jazz and mambo. Also being shown is the ALMA award-winning documentary, From Mambo to Hip-Hop: A South Bronx Tale which demonstrates how, like mambo before it, hip hop sought to both reflect and defy the economic deprivation of its creators.
