SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:An Afternoon with Marjorie Kinnan Rawling
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Start off your afternoon with Karen De Vos, a specialist on Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. De Vos has performed at history museums, cultural centers, libraries and many other venues across the country. In character, as Rawlings, she shares details about life in the Florida “cracker” community of Cross Creek. 70 years ago this year, Rawlings published Cross Creek, an autobiographical account of her relationships with her neighbors and her beloved Florida hammocks. Prior to that, she found prominent popularity in 1938 with The Yearling, a story about a Florida boy, his pet deer and his relationship with his father, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1939.
